Drug and Alcohol Evaluation

A Substance Abuse Evaluation (SAE), also known as an Alcohol and Drug Evaluation, is a detailed assessment aimed at understanding the extent of an individual’s use of mood-altering substances. This evaluation aims to diagnose the scale and impact of substance use and provide recommendations for treatment or intervention, if necessary.

Evaluation Examines Key Factors

Being completely honest during the SAE is crucial. Transparency allows the clinician to make accurate and appropriate recommendations. Misleading or withholding information can lead to incorrect reports, which may prompt additional inquiries or revised recommendations by your Attorney or Supervision Officer.

I believe this is a great stepping stone for many people on the effects of drug and alcohol use that many may not have considered. The information could be updated as it is from 2011. Despite this, the overall presentation was very informative and helpful in giving some background to laws, regulations, and the actual affects drug and alcohol abuse has had on individuals in the class.

David made the class feel like a warm and welcoming place. His knowledge and willingness to share his own experiences with us is not a commonly used approach. Therefore I myself opened up to the messages and lessons he was trying to convey.
All in all it wasn't that bad. And I can honestly say that it was due to having a great facilitator in David Jinkin. Thanks.

This class definitely exceeded my expectations. Truthfully (and probably the case for most people) I was dreading the class and 12 hours seemed pretty daunting to think about sitting through it.. However, this class was way better than I had prepared myself for and the time went by much faster than I anticipated.

John was a really good instructor, there was a lot of interaction within the group and it was nice to relate to others in the class who were all going through a lot of the same things.

I would definitely recommend going through the Alamo Center for anyone who needs this class to fulfill their requirements.

This course was great. Very informative and John was really helpful with everything. We had great discussions on the topics at hand & he made sure to go into detail about everything we covered. I personally enjoyed the mini homework assignment he required us to do because we were able to talk into detail about a famous DUI case.

John, Lori and Karen were all very helpful with any questions I had, even outside of my required classes from them!
The 12-hour DWI class with John was engaging and very informative. I didn’t think I would be excited to go to day 2 and 3 like I was!
I do not want to take this class again, but am thankful I came across Alamo and would refer them to anyone needing courses to complete their probation requirements! 🤍
God bless and good luck with anyone going through this journey.

John Mejia owner and instructor of Alamo Center for DWI classes was great! It was a great learning experience and very informative. I learned so much from these classes and videos on the importance of being educated and informed of your actions and the lives of victims who are forever changed because of someone’s actions getting behind the wheel after over drinking. Thank you so much!

Substance Abuse Evaluation and SASSI?

The SASSI (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory) is a specialized tool often used during substance abuse evaluations. The latest version, SASSI-4, evaluates substance use disorders across the full DSM-5 severity spectrum: mild, moderate, and severe. It provides a comprehensive and accurate assessment to help guide treatment decisions and support recovery efforts.
Our sassi evaluation utilizes the SASSI-4 to provide comprehensive assessments. By understanding your unique circumstances, we tailor our approach to offer personalized guidance and support.

How Accurate is the SASSI-4?

The SASSI-4 is a highly reliable tool for identifying substance use disorders, with an impressive 94% accuracy rate based on empirical studies. It is designed to assess individuals 18 years and older with a reading grade level of 4th to 5th, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

The SASSI-4 takes approximately 15 minutes to administer and score, making it a convenient yet thorough assessment tool.

For more detailed information, refer to the document: Estimates of the Reliability and Criterion Validity of the Adult SASSI-4, available through The SASSI Institute.
