Texas Mandated Classes is qualified to provide substance abuse evaluation which are conducted by a Texas-based Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) with knowledge and clinical experience with the diagnosis and treatment of alcohol and substance use disorders.

A Substance Abuse Evaluation (SAE), also known as an Alcohol and Drug Evaluation, is a detailed assessment aimed at understanding the extent of an individual’s use of mood-altering substances. This evaluation aims to diagnose the scale and impact of substance use and provide recommendations for treatment or intervention, if necessary.
Being completely honest during the SAE is crucial. Transparency allows the clinician to make accurate and appropriate recommendations. Misleading or withholding information can lead to incorrect reports, which may prompt additional inquiries or revised recommendations by your Attorney or Supervision Officer.
The SASSI (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory) is a specialized tool often used during substance abuse evaluations. The latest version, SASSI-4, evaluates substance use disorders across the full DSM-5 severity spectrum: mild, moderate, and severe. It provides a comprehensive and accurate assessment to help guide treatment decisions and support recovery efforts.
Our sassi evaluation utilizes the SASSI-4 to provide comprehensive assessments. By understanding your unique circumstances, we tailor our approach to offer personalized guidance and support.
The SASSI-4 is a highly reliable tool for identifying substance use disorders, with an impressive 94% accuracy rate based on empirical studies. It is designed to assess individuals 18 years and older with a reading grade level of 4th to 5th, making it accessible to a wide range of users.
The SASSI-4 takes approximately 15 minutes to administer and score, making it a convenient yet thorough assessment tool.
For more detailed information, refer to the document: Estimates of the Reliability and Criterion Validity of the Adult SASSI-4, available through The SASSI Institute.
